Jack Deal smashed a brilliant hundred as Twyford condemned basement boys Oxford 2nd to a crushing 132-run defeat in Cherwell League Division 1.

Deal’s magnificent 103 and Stafford Sansome’s 72 helped Twyford to declare an over early on 280-5.

Struggling Oxford were never in the hunt in their reply as they fell to 148 all out as Bilal Afzaal took 6-26 and Fawad Khan 4-42, Adam Hall top-scoring with 61.

Leaders Thame Town were denied victory by Banbury 2nd’s last pair, but remain clear at the top of the table.

Thame were dismissed in the final over of their innings for 191 as Mike Higgs top-scored with 47, while Banbury’s Charlie Hill took 3-40.

Banbury’s reply featured wickets falling regularly throughout and they were never truly in the hunt, opting to shut up shop to close on 151-9, despite four wickets for Hassam Mushtaq (4-56) and three for Higgs (3-34).

Cumnor fell to a five-wicket defeat at home to title-chasing Great Brickhill.

After winning the toss, the hosts would have been disappointed with their batting efforts as they fell to 168 all out, James Fitzjohn top-scoring with 37, while Ahid Khan took 4-33.

Off spinner Max Mannering claimed 4-49 for Cumnor in the visitors’ reply, but 49 from Mark Nelson and 37 from Archie Hammond led Brickhill home at 171-5.

Tiddington were no match for the formidable 277-5 declared set by visitors Long Marston, but managed to scrape a draw.

Simon Butler (82) and Matt Shepherd (73) led the way for Long Marston, while Ben Smith took 4-81. Will Cooper struck 57 for Tiddington, but they never got close, shutting up shop on 181-8, Alastair Bee taking 5-43 for the visitors.

The match between Wolverton and Leighton Buzzard was conceded by Wolverton due to a shortage of players.

Sandford St Martin got back to winning ways to re-ignite their Division 2 promotion challenge with a five-wicket victory at Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts.

The hosts elected to bat after winning the toss, but got off to the worst possible start as Tim Rattigan fell for a duck in the first over.

Aadam Samiullah and Pablo Mukherjee then shared 38 for the second wicket, Samiullah going on to score 54 from 113 balls. But after a 71-run stand between Samiullah and Atif Ali, wickets fell at regular intervals with Chris Thompson taking 4-41 and Jim Howe 3-51.

Nondies were bowled out for 193.

Sandford got off to a disappointing start, losing Ian Reynolds early on.

But partnerships of 49 between Martin Anson and Charlie Beeson and then 104 by Beeson and Scott Reynolds broke the back of the run chase.

Beeson shone with 70 from 127 balls, while Reynolds struck a rapid 50 in 68 balls including nine fours and a six as Sandford eased home with more than four overs to spare.

Horspath 2nd saw off visitors Oxford Downs by four wickets to stay clear at the top of the table.

George Sandbach (69) and Tom Costley (57) helped Downs to a useful total of 214-9 in their 53 overs, while Mark Skelton claimed 5-40 for Horspath.

Opener Joe Todd led from the front in Horspath’s reply, top-scoring with 76, while Skelton completed a fine allround display with 45 not out to lead his side home at 215-6.

Andrew Dyer took 7-26 as Aston Rowant 2nd maintained the pressure at the top with a 64-run win over visitors Abingdon Vale.

The Rowant batsman found the going tough as they were dismissed for 156, left-arm spinner Paul White taking 5-33 for Vale.

But in their reply, Vale fared even worse, only 15-year-old opener Tom Price batting with any resilience. Price finished 37 not out, carrying his bat, but Dyer’s seven-wicket haul condemned the visitors to a heavy defeat.

Great & Little Tew 2nd had to settle for a draw against visitors Challow & Childrey.

After being inserted by Challow, Tew’s batsman made hay with 260-5 in their 53 overs, Curtly Slatter hitting 51 and Lloyd Brock 50.

There were contributions throughout in Challow’s reply, Harry Kent leading the way with 56 and Justin Penrose hitting 44.

But spinners Kevin Taylor (4-64) and Ian Bryan (3-47) bowled well in tandem to restrict the scoring rate, meaning Challow ran out of time to finish on 221-8.

Didcot crashed to a nine-wicket defeat at Bledlow Village.

Simon Pritchard hit 54 in Didcot’s 149 all out, before Bledlow cruised to 150-1 in 38.2 overs, Tom Moore scoring a match-winning 82 not out.

Cropredy march on at the top of Division 3 after crushing hosts Oxford Downs 2nd by ten wickets.

Downs opted to bat, but were soon deep in trouble as Jacob Heath and Jake Walters bowled well in tandem.

Heath was the pick of the Cropredy bowlers, taking 5-12 from ten overs as Downs were shot out for 62.

The visitors wasted no time reaching 66 without loss inside 13 overs for victory.

Alan Bowman took 7-53 for Blewbury & Wallingford as they defeated visitors Bicester & North Oxford by six wickets.

Bicester were all out in the 49th over for 176, Richard Simpson hitting 44.

Lee Ainsworth (49) and Mark Carey (48) then led Blewbury to 177-4 in the 34th over.

Shipton-under-Wychwood 2nd fell to a 47-run defeat at Cublington after a magnificent 139 not out from Pip Webb for the home side.

Cublington rattled up 254-8, Matt Brown taking 4-55 for Shipton.

Brown hit 45 in Shipton’s reply of 207.

 An unbeaten century from Sam Pearce guided Horley to a nine-wicket win at home to Dinton 2nd.

Dave Eaton took 4-72 to help dismiss the visitors for 224, before Pearce hit 100 not out to see Horley home at 226-1 in the 35th over.

 Banbury 3rd were shot out for just 97 as they were beaten by four wickets at Buckingham 2nd.

Olly Murrey and Ross Freeman took three wickets apiece as Buckingham replied with 98-6 in 35 overs.

Tiddington 2nd’s Division 4 title hopes suffered a setback as they fell to their second successive defeat, this time at Bletchley Town.

Merlin Vaughan top-scored with 55 as Tiddington were bowled out for 158.

Bletchley were circumspect in their reply, reaching 159-7 in the 52nd over, Sam Newman top-scoring with 33 not out.

 A half-century from Mike Dove was in vain for Witney Mills as they fell to a six-wicket defeat at home to Brackley.

Mills batted first, and were all out for 171 as Keith Cartwright took 4-9 and Dove hit 52.

Michael Lowe (46) and Luke Stone (36) then led the way for Brackley as they reached 174-4.

Kingston Bagpuize crashed to an eight-wicket defeat at home to high-flying Kimble.

Phil Semmens took 4-50 to help dismiss Kingston for 134, James Kemp making 43.

Ben Mooney then hit 51 not out to lead Kimble to 136-2 in the 32nd over to leave the home side rooted to the foot of the table. Chearsley saw off visitors Leighton Buzzard Town 2nd by seven wickets.

Batting first, Buzzard were bowled out for 161, Ed Holland taking 4-33.

The hosts then cruised home in the 31st over, Jacob Turley top-scoring with 49.

Great Brickhill 2nd defeated visitors Stokenchurch by 104 runs.

Brickhill rattled up 248-9, with Patrick Prasad contributing 95 not out.

Stokenchurch replied with 144 all out.

 Leigh Lewis returned superb figures of 7-60, but still finished on the losing side as Abingdon Vale 2nd beat visitors Aston Rowant 3rd by 17 runs in Division 5.

Chris Butcher’s 46 helped Vale to 166 all out, despite Lewis’s haul.

But Rowant could not reach the target, despite 56 not out from Matt Luxford, Matthew Darley taking 4-31 and were bowled out for 149.

John Phippen took 6-27 to help Thame Town 2nd to a 20-run victory at Oxford 3rd.

Oxford were all out in the 48th over for 155 as they failed to chase down Thame’s 175 all out.

 East Oxford saw off visitors Cumnor 2nd by five wickets.

Batting first, Cumnor posted 224-9 in their 53 overs, Tom Parsons top-scoring with a handy 68.

Adnan Hamid led East Oxford’s reply with 44 as they reached 227-5 with almost ten overs to spare.

East Oxford were deducted two points for a slow over rate.

Horspath 3rd fell to a two-wicket defeat at Long Marston 2nd.

Adrian Manger hit 47 not out in Horspath’s healthy 196-7, before Long Marston edged in at 198-8, despite 4-35 from Asad Rafiq.

Nathan Perna’s fine all-round display was in vain for Twyford 2nd, who lost by 36 runs at Bledlow Ridge.

Perna took 5-60 in Ridge’s 234-8, Richard Dryden top-scoring with 79 not out.

Then Perna hit 61 in Twyford’s reply, but they were all out for 198, Ian Murdoch capturing 4-56.

In Division 6, Tom Young’s 102 not out helped Great & Little Tew 3rd amassed 306-6 against Horley 2nd, who closed on 225-8, despite 4-37 from Simon Priscott.

Oxford 4th beat hosts Bicester & North Oxford 2nd by two runs in a thrilling Division 7 clash. A spell of 6-43 by Liam Randall helped restrict Oxford to 166-9, Tom Swarbrick topscoring with 32.

 Kevin Hicks led Bicester’s reply with 35, but good bowling from Vivek Ravikumar Jigalur (4-35) and Mark Sheehan (3-12) dismissed them for 166 off the penultimate ball.

Over 60s star Ian Caunce rolled back the years with a magnificent 153 not out for Oxford Downs 3rd in their Division 8 clash with visitors Bletchley Town 2nd.

Caunce hit 20 fours and two sixes in his mammoth innings, helping Downs to declare on 256-3. A stubborn Bletchley, with no hope of victory, opted to play for the draw as they crawled to 156-4 in 47 overs.

 Fifteen-year-old George Buckingham smashed his second century of the season (140) to help Cropredy 3rd to a 164-run victory over visitors Dinton 3rd.

Buckingham’s knock helped Cropredy to 274-8, and he then took 3-16 as Dinton were bowled out for 110.
