AN incredible eight-wicket haul from Hassam Mushtaq helped Thame Town to a crushing seven-wicket victory over visitors Leighton Buzzard as they closed in on the title.

Thame, who are still unbeaten this season, shot Buzzard out for just 99 in 39 overs as Mushtaq claimed 8-31.

Jarryd McPhee then hit 45 not out to lead Thame to 102-3 in the 17th over to wrap up a comfortable win.

Thame Tn 25pts, Leighton Buzzard 3 Youngsters were to the fore for Cumnor as they condemned Oxford 2nd to yet another defeat, cruising home by 67 runs.

Batting first, Cumnor were bowled out for 227 as James Fitzjohn hit 82, while Sulaiman Hussain claimed 4-29 for Oxford.

Having plenty of overs to reach the target, Oxford’s batting subsided to 160 all out in the 41st over as Max Mannering claimed 4-48, Adam Hall hitting 60 for the hosts.

Four wicket hauls for Bilal Afzal and Tom Jackson helped Twyford to a three-wicket win at home to Tiddington.

Will Cooper’s entertaining 66, containing eight fours and a six, saw Tiddington set 189 all out as Afzal took 4-38 and Jackson 4-42.

Nicholas Evans then hit 55 in Twyford’s reply as they reached 193-7, Afzal completing a fine all-round display with 35.

Banbury 2nd pulled victory from the jaws of defeat as they beat hosts Wolverton by 27 runs.

Banbury were shot out for just 119 in 42 overs, only Tom Bradbeer (30) really getting going.

But inspired bowling from Alex Shortt (4-16) and skipper Charlie Hill (4-28) put the hosts on the back foot as they crumbled to 92 all out in their reply.

Great Brickhill’s title hopes suffered a massive setback as they lost by 26 runs at Long Marston.

George Humphries took a magnificent 8-32 for Brickhill as the hosts were skittled out for 117, but he finished on the losing side.

Peter Toovey (5-25) and Alastair Bee (3-24) combined for Marston to dismiss Brickhill for just 91 to wrap up victory.

ABINGDON Vale’s Division 2 relegation fears were increased as they crashed to a 50-run defeat at home to fellow strugglers Didcot at Hales Meadow on Saturday.

Didcot’s win took them off the bottom of the table, leaving Vale just 30 points above the bottom two with four games remaining.

The visitorselected to bat first and were quickly two wickets down as spinner Jon Jenkinson, opening the bowling, removed openers Simon Pritchard and Karl Johnston.

Aiden Kammel hit 59 to help Didcot to victory

A stand of 40 between Ian Demain and Sam Couldrick was ended when Oxfordshire Ladies’ captain Sam Moore, making her first-team debut, removed Couldrick, before Tom Price got in on the act to bowl Demain for 31.

The visitors were thankful to Aiden Kammel, who chipped in with an enterprising 59 from 62 balls, his knock containing seven fours and two sixes.

But Jenkinson continued to make inroads, finishing with superb figures of 6-49 in 13.2 overs as Didcot were bowled out in the 52nd over for 181.

SIX wickets for skipper Adam Krol inspired leaders Horspath 2nd to a thrilling two-wicket win as they continued their title march.

Krol claimed 6-50 to help restrict hosts Challow & Childrey to 216-9 in their 53 overs, despite Justin Penrose hitting 55 and Alex Lynch 41.

In reply, Dominic O’Connor hit 57 and Joey Todd 52 to lead Horspath to a thrilling victory with just one ball remaining.

Ryan Gordon was the main man for Challow, claiming 5-60.

Aston Rowant 2nd won an enthralling match at basement boys Bledlow Village by just two runs.

Alex Jewell led the way with 83 in Rowant’s 153 all out, Matthew Bolton taking 4-32 and Ryan Chapman chipping in with 3-38.

Linsey Smith was the pick of the Rowant bowlers as she returned magnificent figures of 5-43 in 14 overs as the home side fell just short, being dismissed for 151 in the 46th over.

In reply, Sandford crumbled to 140 all out as Liam Manley claimed 5-48 and Matthew Warner 3-38.

CROPREDY need just one more win to secure the title after they cruised to a 113-run victory at home to Horley.

Richard Lynch then returned superb figures of 6-17 as Horley were shot out for 75 in reply, leaving Cropredy 86 points clear at the top.

KINGSTON Bagpuize retained their hopes of avoiding relegation after seeing off visitors Bletchley Town by 16 runs.

But the home side were then thankful to a match-winning spell from spinner Arthur Verdin, who claimed 6-31 as Bletchley fell to 143 all out in reply.

Luke Mitchell (4-52) and Butcher (3-30) were the pick of the bowlers, East Oxford hanging on at 166-9.

Smith’s mammoth knock helped Challow to a massive 309-7 dec, but despite giving themselves six extra overs to bowl at the home side, they could not force victory.

Half-centuries from Nigel Leach (58no), Richard Hart (56no) and Perera Moon (55) saw them comfortably hold on, to close on 237-5.

Banbury 4th made the most of Challow’s dropped points to stretch their lead at the top.

They amassed 307 all out at Didcot 2nd, Dan Bartlett hitting 65.

George Tait then took 3-19 as Didcot were shot out for 113 in a crushing 194-run defeat.

Patrick Somerton’s 5-51 helped Division 7 leaders Cropredy 2nd to a nine-wicket win at Bledlow Ridge 2nd.

The hosts made only 134-8, before Jamie Jennings (75no) led Cropredy to 136-1.
