IAN Caunce blasted a superb century as Oxfordshire beat Worcestershire by 109 runs to go top of the Seevent National Over 60 Championship West Midlands Group table.
The Oxford Downs player used his home pitch to his advantage to hammer 136 in a 155-run opening stand with Derek Watts, who made 54.
The century was Caunce’s third successive against Worcestershire and helped Oxon to 288-7 in their 45 overs.
Malcolm Evans chipped in with 43 as the hosts posted exactly the same score as in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
Worcestershire reached 78-0, but lost wickets as they tried to accelerate and they closed on 179-4, despite the efforts of Glyn Thomas who made an unbeaten 55 to add to his three wickets.
The win takes Oxfordshire top of the West Midlands table, but they face a stiff challenge in Tuesday’s match away to Shropshire.
