Oxfordshire's Jordan Garrett has been selected to represent England Under 17s against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates in February.

The 15-year-old batsman, who plays for Great & Little Tew, is one of three under 16s who have been called up for the development programme tour a year early for the age group.

Garrett said: “After receiving a call from David Graveney (national performance manager) telling me of my selection it took a little while to sink in.

“It is an opportunity that I am very excited about, but I also know that I need to keep my feet on the ground and keep working hard.”

Garrett, who played ten games for Gloucestershire 2nd last season, will take part in a pre-tour training camp at Loughborough from January 30 to February 1, before flying out to the UAE ten days later.

His selection comes at the end of a year in which he rewrote the Oxfordshire record books with an unbeaten 208 against Bucks Under 16s at Aston Rowant – the largest individual score for an Oxon age group side.
