Aston Rowant won the Oxfordshire final of the ECB Under 15 National Club Championship with a 30-run victory over Shipton-under-Wychwood in a high-scoring match.

Consistent batting from Ben Coldicott (30), Alex Chapman (26) and Rory Wilson (25), plus a top score of 32 extras helped Rowant post 145-8 from their 20 overs.

This was despite a splendid spell of bowling from Shipton’s Blake Richardson, who took 4-23 from his four overs.

Richardson also starred with the bat, and with Charlie Miller (23) also going well, Shipton looked on course for victory at 75-2.

But Richardson had to retire on 51, and there followed a dramatic collapse in which no batsman reached double figures and they were bowled out for 115 in 16.1 overs.

Will Senior (3-12) and Angus White (3-13) starred with the ball for Rowant who qualified to face Slough in the first national round.

l KAMRAN Ramzan was the star as Kidlington beat Shipton-under-Wychwood by 38 runs in the final of the Oxfordshire Under 13 Gauntlett Goblet eight-a-side competition at Abingdon Vale.

Ramzan set about the bowling in great style to score 41 not out in his four overs as Kidlington finished with a formidable score of 330.

Shipton were not intimidated by the target and launched their own attack and needed 26 to win off the last two overs.

However, Kidlington skipper Ramzan stepped up to the mark again, conceding just two runs and taking a wicket in the penultimate over to put the result beyond doubt.

His all-round contribution earned him the player-of-the-day award.

In the semi-finals played on the same day, Kidlington came through against Challow & Childrey after posting a target of 278.

Challow made 230 in reply, Jack Launchbury taking 3-19.

In the other semi-final, Shipton-under-Wychwood had the better of Cumnor, who chased a target of 262 and finished well short on 216.
