FOOTBALL: Oxford City's trip to Wales called off

Oxford City’s already congested fixture list got even worse when today’s Blue Square Bet North clash away to Colwyn Bay was called off last night.

The Welsh club reported that pitch was both flooded and frozen as the winter weather returned with a vengeance.

This is the third game City have lost to the weather in the last week, with the double-header against Bradford Park Avenue last Saturday and Monday being waterlogged off.

City, who have had problems with their own Marsh Lane ground this season, still have 12 matches to play – and lea-gue rules stipulate that these games must be completed by the end of April.

North Leigh’s derby clash at home to Didcot Town in Evo-Stik Division 1 South & West, which was switched from today to last night, was called off in mid-afternoon due to a waterlogged pitch.

There are expected to be further casualties in today’s league programme.
