FOOTBALL: Concannon frustrated by inconsistent Didcot
Didcot Town’s joint manager Ian Concannon wants his side to find some consistent form, starting with the home clash against Bridgwater in Calor League Division 1 South & West tomorrow.
Last week, they bounced back from a poor display against Stratford with a super show at Swindon Supermarine, only to slip to a 3-2 home loss against Shortwood United on Tuesday night.
“We gifted them three goals to be honest,” said Concannon.
“We were seemed a totally different side to the one at Supermarine.
“We improved in the second half, but it wasn’t up to the standard we expect. So it’s back to square one.
“At the moment we’re either very good or very bad – we just can’t seem to find a happy medium and it’s very frustrating.
“Our consistency levels are very poor.
“Shortwood are a well-organised team. They know when to play and when to defend their lines.
“Our decision-making is very poor and we have to get it right because it’s costing us.”
Didcot will be without Kameron Abbassi (calf injury) and Lance Williams (ankle ligament damage), though Jack Longford returns to the squad.
Fifth-placed North Leigh face a trip to Cinderford Town.
Banbury United boss Edwin Stein reports no fresh injury worries ahead of their trip to St Neots Town.
He will be looking for his side to build on last Saturday’s home win against Bideford Town, which lifted them to eighth in the Premier Division.
Meanwhile, Banbury’s Oxfordshire Senior Cup quarter-final midweek trip to Oxford City, postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 11.
Banbury Utd (v St Neots Tn, away): from Fordah, Cray, Bridges, McNulty, Mbamarah, Ryan, Green, Martin, Simpson, Lawless, Pinto, Joao, Barker.
Didcot Tn (v Bridgwater, home): from Foster, Parish, Woodley, Carnell, Franklin, Dutton-Black, Heapy, Ofori, Mills, Whitehead, Haysham, Longford, Thorne, McKirnan, Baines.
