Didcot Town’s joint manager Ian Concannon is hoping that training on Oxford City’s 3G pitch will give them the edge when they travel to Calor League Division 1 South & West leaders Merthyr Town (1).

The Welshmen are unbeaten on their artificial surface, but Concannon said Didcot, who have not lost on their travels for five games, are relishing the trip.

“We had a good training session on it in the week to get used to the surface,” said Concannon.

“It’s a game where people expect us to get nothing, but we’ll try to take the game to them.

“They have got to lose at home sometime, so why can’t it be us that ends that record?”

Kameron Abbassi (calf) misses out.

The early kick-off is due to the Wales v Scotland rugby match.

North Leigh boss Mark Gee is confident his players can get their play-off push back on track, starting with the visit of Yate Town.

But he wants them to do it soon.

Although Gee’s side are within five points of fifth-placed Tiverton Town, they have gleaned only five from their last four games.

“I think you need seven players at the top of their game and four contributing, to win a game of football and we’re not doing that,” he said.

“We’ve been staying in games, but not playing at our best, so I’m looking for a bit more all-round contribution from the players. “We’ve put ourselves in a fantastic position, but we’ve lost our momentum and are struggling for form at just the wrong time.

“We just need a couple of wins. We won 5-0 at Yate earlier in the season which was one of our best displays of the season, so a repeat would be nice.” North Leigh will be at full strength.
