Oxford City boss Mike Ford was unable to hide his delight after seeing his side battle back from the dead to draw 3-3 at home to Guiseley.

City needed goals in the last seven minutes from Steve Basham and Darren Pond to claim a point, but Ford felt it was the least they deserved.

He said: “We probably could have won it in the second half with three or four outstanding chances, but unfortunately we didn’t score and we get done again with the sucker punch.

“But what resilience my players have shown today.

“2-0 and then 3-1 down against a team challenging for the play-offs and we grab a draw, so we’ve got it in us.”

And striker Basham, who came on as substitute, was also quick to praise City’s never-say-die attitude.

“You have to get on with it and show character and we did that,” he said.

“When you find yourselves 3-1 down with ten minutes to go and come back to get a great result like that everyone’s over the moon.”
