Banbury United dropped to fourth from bottom of the Calor League Premier Division after a 2-0 defeat at Hardenhuish Park on Saturday.
Already safe from the drop due to their midweek win against Biggleswade Town, Banbury started brightly.
And they were unlucky not to go ahead on 34 minutes when Marcus Green’s shot rebounded off a post before being cleared.
Three minutes later, Banbury went 1-0 down after their on-loan Wolves youngster Dutton wrongly picked up a backpass.
The resulting indirect free-kick was knocked to Alan Griffin who fired home through a mass of players.
Although Banbury improved after the break, Chippenham doubled their lead following another error from Dutton.
The keeper raced off his line to clear a through ball only for James Guthrie to get their first and lob him from the edge of the area.
At the other end, Nic Evangelinos saw his shot kicked off the line and into the arms of home keepr Kent Kauppinen.
Five minutes later, an Evangelinos effort was parried by Kauppinen to Claudio Dias, who hit the side-netting from three yards as Banbury failed to find a cutting edge.
