Ardley United kept alive their dreams of a treble with a 2-1 home win over Highworth Town in the Uhlsport Hellenic League's Bluefin Sports Challenge Cup semi-final.
Kevin Brock’s side are two points behind leaders Wantage Town with both clubs due to play their final Premier Division fixtures tonight, and are also through to Thursday’s Oxfordshire Senior Cup final against Kidlington at the Kassam Stadium, Oxford.
And now they can look forward to a second cup final against Ascot United at Abingdon United on Monday, May 5 following Saturday’s triumph.
Ardley scored twice in as many minutes at the start of the second half, with Callum Convey’s speculative lob flying over Highworth keeper Kurtis Sharkey’s head in the 50th minute.
Jon Gardner then broke free into the area from the left wing to double Ardley’s advantage.
Highworth pulled one back five minutes from time when a foul, which appeared to be just outside the area was judged to be a penalty, and Terry Bohane dispatched the spot-kick.
