I worry that Wright's relationship with the supporters has been permanantly and irrevocably damaged beyond repair. Hopefully this is not the case an inform, fully fit and up-for-it Jake Wright is a valuable asset to the club. When alongside Mullins, he looks a completely different player.

For me one of the biggest reasons are defence became so vulnerable was the loss of Mullins at a crucial time of the season and I do believe not enough has been made of this. Raynes is adequate cover, but as the York game shows is prone to making costly mistakes and I certainly wouldn't want him as first choice. Wright looks far more at ease and comfortable with Mullins beside him. You can tell he trusts Mullins, but hasn't got total faith in his partner when playing alongside Raynes.
I am pleased that the club are keeping Wright, Waddock says he wants to stay here so we have to believe him. Some fans have been a bit frustrated with Wright since Christmas and blamed it on his injury. The fact is that he did miss Mullins alongside him. I can see no reason why Wright will not be back to the form we know he is capable of once Mullins is fit.

Providing Constable is not going to be our main striker, then happy to see him stay. However not sure that the cull is as deep as we needed after the last desperate few months. Reckon Newey will be on his way though, there is no way the club can attack with our present full back pairing.
A fit Wright and Mullins make one of the best central pairings in this division. I hope you're right!"

James Constable has been offered the chance to stay at Oxford United following contract talks with the squad at the Kassam Stadium this morning.

The U's have also taken up the 12-month option on skipper Jake Wright's contract, but Deane Smalley, Sean Rigg and Scott Davies have been released.

Tom Newey will meet with head coach Gary Waddock tomorrow to discuss his future.

Wayne Brown, who was on a player/coach contract, will not be offered playing terms, but talks will follow about a coaching role.

Michael Raynes, whose original contract expired this summer, will stay after making enough appearances this season to activate a clause keeping him at the club for an additional 12 months.

Loan trio Ryan Williams, David Connolly and Nicky Wroe have all returned to their parent clubs.
