Banbury United secured a goalless draw with a battling display at their fellow Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division strugglers.

However, a point still leaves the Puritans deep in trouble and 11 points from safety with eight games to go.

Banbury started the stronger, but could not make their pressure tell and on 11 minutes Tom Ryan’s goalline clearance from Biggleswade’s Ollie Thorne prevented the hosts going ahead.

Six minutes later, Leigh Bedwell made a double point-blank save and soon after smothered a shot from Lee Allinson low down to his left.

Three minutes into the second half, Hicham Abdellah shot wide from outside the area as Banbury came back into the contest.

Two minutes later, a Leam Howards shot from 12 yards was tipped around a post for a corner by Ian Brown in the Biggleswade goal.

On 55 minutes, Kynan Isaac unleashed a fierce shot from the edge of the penalty area which fizzed inches over.

Biggleswade started to dominate, but failed to make it tell and it the visitors Banbury who finished the stronger.

Five minutes from time, Ian Brown did well to tip a Darius Browne shot from 12 yards around a post for a corner.

The Puritans kept up the pressure, but couldn’t find a winner.
