GEORGE Reid scored twice as Abingdon United ended their five-game goal drought with a 2-0 win over Wokingham & Emmbrook in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division.

They struggled to create any threatening chances until Reid was fouled in the area on 45 minutes.

However, his penalty was saved by Sean Woodward.

United started strongly after the break and Reid made amends for his earlier miss.

Jack Wright raced down the wing and pulled the ball back for Reid, who turned and fired into the bottom corner.

The visitors looked for an equaliser and Sam Duffelen fired just wide.

Abingdon sealed victory in stoppage time when Reid slid the ball past Woodward.

Elsewhere, Kidlington beat Binfield 2-1, while Thame United drew 2-2 at Lydney Town.

Milton United lost 2-1 at Highmoor Ibis, Oxford City Nomads suffered a 3-2 defeat against Thatcham Town and Ardley United went down 4-0 at home to Highworth Town.

In the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup, Division 1 West side Letcombe eased past Saxton Rovers 3-0.

Richie Claydon scored twice in the first half, while Dan Hoskin found the net after the break.
