Didcot Town joint manager Ian Concannon greeted the news that his side will host either Brentwood Town or Hoddesdon Town in the fourth qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup as a great opportunity to progress.

Brentwood, the Ryman League Premier Division club, entertain Hoddesdon, of the Spartan South Midland League Premier Division, in a replay tonight after a goalless draw on Saturday.

But whichever side earn the right to face the Railwaymen on Saturday, October 24, Concannon believes it offers his side a good chance of reaching the first round of the prestigious competition for the first time.

He said: “Whoever we’re playing, league position will be irrelevant on the day and whoever wants it more will get themselves in the hat.

“It’s an opportunity for either side to progress and we’re desperate to get there.”

Didcot have only reached this stage of the competition once before, losing out to Arlesey Town in 2012.

Now they’re potentially just 90 minutes away from a place in the first round alongside clubs from the Football League – including Oxford United – and Concannon believes supporters should be excited.

“It’s something for the whole town to look forward to,” he said.

“The FA Cup is a fantastic competition to be involved with and it’s a great chance for everyone in the town and the surrounding villages to get behind us."

“Their support can really push us on into the next round.”
