SUBSTITUTE Jamie Cook helped himself to a brace as North Leigh ran riot with an 8-0 win over basement boys Bashley.

The Millers put three goals past their hosts in the first half, before adding a further five after the break in the Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West fixture.

Bashley were warned of what was to come when Morgan Williams’s free-kick sailed just wide of goalkeeper Tom Robinson’s post in the second minute.

And only six minutes later the deadlock was broken when Kieran Sander clipped the ball into the far corner of the net.

Williams added a second on 13 minutes, converting from close range, as the Millers streamed forward at every opportunity.

Callum McNish was twice thwarted by the woodwork, but he made it 3-0 on 33 minutes with a powerful effort that nestled in the corner of the net.

The visitors’ dominance continued after the break and it was 4-0 on 48 minutes, with Elliott Osborne-Ricketts finishing off a fine team move.

Jon Else hit the fifth on 54 minutes, cutting in from the right to fire home.

The Millers had to wait until the 79th minute to make it six when Jozef Fullerton netted.

With the home side tiring, Cook scored on 82 and 88 minutes to wrap up the victory.

North Leigh: Foster, Elkins, Hopkins, Turk, White, Hole (Westlake 63), Else, Osborne-Ricketts (Cook 63), Sanders, McNish, Williams (Fullerton 78). Sub not used: Taylor.

Attendance: 84.

STUART Cattell’s first home game in charge of Wantage Town ended in a 4-0 defeat at the hands of AFC Totton.

Mike Gosney, Nick Watts, Neil Williams and Nathaniel Sherbourne were on target for the visitors.

Wantage were lucky not to concede a fifth, when Totton goalkeeper Steve Mowthorpe scored straight from a goal kick, but his effort was ruled out by the referee.
