OXFORD United have signed right back Jonjoe Kenny on an initial one-month loan spell from Everton.

The 18-year-old was capped by England at under 17 level and gained his first senior experience earlier this season on loan at Wigan Athletic.

Kenny's signing raises the possibility George Baldock, who has starred for the U's at right back this season, is set to be recalled by parent club MK Dons.

The 22-year-old is on a season-long loan, but Dons manager Karl Robinson has hinted it could be cut short.

Some clarity is expected on the situation tomorrow, but for the moment U's boss Michael Appleton is pleased to get Kenny on board.

He said: “He is very highly-rated at Goodison and we are not the only club to have watched him a number of times this season.

"He can play in a few positions, uses the ball well and has a fantastic attitude, he wants to be involved all the time and has a really bright future.

“We have some massive games coming up and adding players like Jonjoe, and Jordan Bowery last week, gives us options and competition for places at an important stage of the season.”
