JONJOE Kenny is under no illusions about the difficulty of the task of replacing George Baldock as Oxford United’s right back.

But the Everton youngster says he will be giving it his best shot.

The 18-year-old signed on a month’s loan from the Barclays Premier League club this week, 24 hours before Baldock was recalled by parent club MK Dons.

While Baldock will play in United’s Emirates FA Cup fourth round tie at home to Sky Bet Championship side Blackburn Rovers tomorrow, Kelly is expected to fill the vacant position in his absence.

His first game could be the second leg of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy area final against Millwall on Tuesday and Kenny says he is ready to step up to the mark.

“George Baldock has done brilliant,” he said.

“I have seen clips of him and he is a really top player.

“Filling his shoes might be difficult, but it is what I am here to do and hopefully I can do it.”

Kenny has been capped by England at under 17 level and gained senior experience earlier this season on loan at Sky Bet League One side Wigan Athletic.

He added: “I think it is a great move for me.

“I have played in League One for Wigan and coming here it is top of League Two and they could easily be a division higher if not Championship.”
