OXFORD City’s youngsters will get a chance to impress when they host holders Banbury United in the quarter-finals on the Oxfordshire Senior Cup.

General manager Justin Merritt will rest several first-team players tonight and hand a chance to teenagers Amer Awadh and Kaylem Patterson, as well as first-year scholar Harry Edwards in goal.

“It’s a great chance to integrate some of our younger players into the senior side,” said Merritt.

“It should be a good learning experience for them in a competitive game against one of Oxfordshire’s senior sides.”

Striker James Roberts is ineligible, but is expected to feature for parent club Oxford United against Ardley United tomorrow, as is defender Miles Welch-Hayes, who has been on loan at Banbury.

Former City favourites Felipe Barcelos and Mark Bell could play against their old side, with boss Mike Ford returning to Marsh Lane for the first time since being sacked in 2014.

Banbury are the current champions and Ford hopes to see his side retain their title this season.

Ford said: “We’re the holders, so we have a responsibility to the club and also to the players and management from last year to defend that.”

Kidlington are without Ben Weedon (hamstring) and Ben Willoughby (unavailable) as they travel to Thame United, but welcome back striker Ryan Brooks and defender Mark Flanagan.

Wantage Town striker Jimmy Deabill is back after a foot injury as his side host former club Didcot Town in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West.

Didcot are without midfielder Jack Powell (suspended), who serves the second match of a three-game suspension, but welcome back James Organ from a foot injury and the previously unavailable Jack Longford.

North Leigh travel to Marlow without George Seacole, while Lewis White returns.
