NORTH Leigh's dream run in the Emirates FA Cup came to an end in a 6-0 defeat at Eastleigh in the fourth qualifying round.

Ryan Bird hit four goals, with Andy Drury and James Constable also on the scoresheet, as the Vanarama National League hosts cruised past the Millers, who had Eric Odhiambo sent off.

Eastleigh took the lead after ten minutes when Bird ran on to a long ball and, after spotting Connor Thompson had been tempted off his line, coolly curled over the goalkeeper and into the bottom corner.

The Millers, who play three tiers lower in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West, were affording the home side too much space and paid the price.

Bird slotted home to double Eastleigh's lead in the 31st minute and it was 3-0 on the stroke of half-time.

Jai Reason's perfectly weighted ball found Drury and the midfielder expertly lobbed the stranded Thompson.

On 54 minutes, Bird fired into the bottom corner to complete his hat-trick and if the gulf between the two sides was not already big enough, the Millers went down to ten men on the hour.

Odhiambo, who was booked in the first half, tackled Reason to the floor to stop the Eastleigh man running on to a ball down the left, leaving referee Richard Hulme with no option but to show a second yellow card.

The one-way traffic continued as Bird and substitute Constable fired home from close range.

Eastleigh went in search for more, but Thompson denied Scott Wilson and Luke Coulson as the Millers's cup heroics were brought to an end in Hampshire.
