STUART Cattell returns from suspension as Wantage Town host local rivals North Leigh this evening in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West, writes MATTHEW BRUCE.

Cameron McNeil and Nick Kalakoutis also return to the squad as the Alfredians look to recover from back-to-back 5-1 defeats, but Mark Burton is out with a hip injury.

“We have to start putting in some better performances,” said player-manager Cattell, who has seen his side slip to heavy defeats against Evesham United and Paulton Rovers in the last week.

“Hopefully a local derby is the perfect thing to spur us on.

“That was the poorest we’ve played all season on Saturday. If we perform like that again the result will be exactly the same.

“The last thing you want in a local derby is to be embarrassed like that.”

Matt Sysum and Bradley Gray return for the Millers, but James Fawke is injured.

Jon Steedman has left the club, while Richard Platt is unavailable while he considers a move to Rushden & Diamonds.

Jack Longford (knee) is the only absentee as Didcot Town entertain second-placed Evesham United.

While the Railwaymen go into tonight’s game on the back of five straight victories, their visitors have won 11 consecutive league games.

With the league’s two form sides going head-to-head, Didcot boss Andy Ballard admitted his side will have to be at their best to maintain their winning run.

“They’re second in the league and it’s definitely going to be one of the toughest game we’ll face all season,” he said.

“But we go into it full of confidence after our own run.

“We’re playing the right type of football to get results, so we’re looking to keep that going.”

Mark Bell and Jack Westbrook return for Banbury United’s trip to Slough Town in the Premier Division.

Despite back-to-back 1-0 defeats at the hands of King’s Lynn Town and Dunstable Town, manager Mike Ford believes his side are under no pressure this evening.

He said: “It’s a tough game in one sense, because they’ve obviously been up there since day one and they’re on their home ground in front of a big support.

“But it’s one of the easier games for us to prepare for mentally. No one expects us to get a result there, so we can just go there and enjoy ourselves and look to surprise a few people.”

Eric Odhiambo could make his first appearance since returning to Kidlington as they travel to Hanwell Town in Division 1 Central.

The news comes as a boost to Greens boss Julian McCalmon, who believes his side are on the up after masterminding their 3-0 defeat of high-flying Marlow last time out.

“We can’t wait to get back out there,” he said.

“We’re in a rich vein of form, we’ve come through a tough spell and come through it well.

“There’s a real buzz around the club again.”

Mark Janes and captain Tom Franklin return, but Chris Weedon is out with a knee injury and Elliott Osborne-Ricketts (ankle) is a doubt.
