FREDDIE Grant has become the latest player to commit himself to Oxford City for next season.

The defender joined from Oxford United 12 months ago and his performances convinced boss Mark Jones to offer a new deal.

The City manager said: “I’m pleased that Freddie has agreed to sign.

“I felt he performed very well last season – a good young full back who can also play in other positions.

“At only 20 years of age, we hope to see even more from him as we continue to work together.”

Grant adds to a youthful group in the squad which is already taking shape.

Jones said: “We are again hoping to further develop our young players already at the club. The likes of Jordi Ngathe, Matt Peake-Pijnen, Sammy Khawaja and Jack Tutton are very much in our thinking.

“We do not want a massive squad which blocks the path of our young players, who each have so much potential.”
