NORMAN Stacey believes he has found the “ideal man” to take over Ardley United after appointing Ian Feaver as the club’s new chairman, writes JACK JOHNSON.

The Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division outfit were rocked two weeks ago when the 74-year-old stepped down after more than three decades.

But Stacey, who has now announced he will stay on as the club’s secretary, had been working to find a replacement and previously told the Oxford Mail there had been some interest.

The former chairman met Feaver last week and has now handed over the reins.

Stacey said: “He is a resident of Ardley and has shown an interest in football.

“He lives very close and I thought he was the ideal man.

“I approached him and after a long discussion he decided he would take the job on.”

Ardley are also without a manager following the resignation of Paul Davis, who cited “personal reasons” for the decision.

Five people have applied for the job and Feaver’s first task will be to appoint a successor.

Stacey said: “He is now actively looking for a manager and I’m not sure where he is with that.”

“I have always said I will help the new chairman as little as he needs it.

“But when you resign you don’t want to still run the club and I don’t intend to do that.”
