REECE Fleet scored twice in the first half as Oxford City defeated Cheltenham Town 2-1 in a friendly to record a first win on their 3G pitch at Court Place Farm.

Playing in a torrential downpour three days after their 3-0 defeat by Oxford United, City took the lead midway through the opening period when Fleet netted from Horatio Hirst’s pass.

After Jerrell Sellars had struck the post from 30 yards for the Sky Bet League Two visitors, Fleet doubled City’s lead from the penalty spot, following a foul at a corner City keeper Craig Hill made two excellent saves in the second half from Mohamed Eisa and Adam Page.

He was eventually beaten in the 85th minute, when Eisa slipped the ball under the sodden keeper.

But City, whose pitch came through with flying colours held on for a notable victory against the Robins, who fielded several first-teamers.
