OXFORD United have not received any bids for winger Marvin Johnson, according to manager Pep Clotet.

The 26-year-old has been linked to several Premier League clubs, including Leicester City – where former U’s boss Michael Appleton is now assistant manager.

Johnson has impressed since joining United for a six-figure fee from Motherwell on transfer deadline day last year.

The winger proved to be a key member of the squad which finished eighth in Sky Bet League One and reached the Checkatrade Trophy final, scoring six goals.

When asked before the 2-0 friendly defeat to Birmingham City whether the U’s had received any bids for Johnson, Clotet said: “No.

“We’re very happy with Marvin, he’s doing a fantastic job.

“He’s a player who can play in a couple of good positions and, as far as we know, he is an important player for us and there’s no speculation about him.”
