MARK Jones has challenged Oxford City to build on their first win of the campaign when Hungerford Town visit tonight (7.45).

After losing their first two games of the Vanarama National League South season, City got up and running with a 3-0 win at Whitehawk on Saturday.

Jones, who will have an unchanged squad from the weekend, wants more of the same after setting a goal of getting into the top 11 by the end of the month.

He said: “It was important we got the victory because we needed to make sure we got some points on the board.

“What we have to do is back it up.

“If we can get a result against Hungerford, you would look at it as a reasonable start.

“We have to try to put a run of positive results together to hit our target of being in the top half of the table come the end of August.”

Town finished sixth in their first campaign at National League level.

And after watching them beat Weston-super-Mare 2-0 last week, Jones has a good idea of what to expect.

He said: “Hungerford will be tough.

“They are a very hard-working side with lots of energy.

“We will have to be ‘on it’.”

Elsewhere, Banbury United will be attempting to build on their 5-1 opening-day win over Dorchester when they travel to fellow fast-starters Chesham United in Evo-Stik South League Premier.
