OXFORD City extended their unbeaten run to four games with a 3-2 victory at home to Wealdstone on Saturday, writes RYAN BRATLEY.

However, despite the excellent form sparked by their giant-killing victory over Colchester in the Emirates FA Cup, Mark Jones’s side are still languishing in the bottom three.

It was only their second home win of the season.

The hosts took a 2-0 lead within the first eight minutes.

Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain put them ahead after five minutes when he shot into an unguarded net after beating Stones ‘keeper Jonathan North to a long ball.

Three minutes later, Zac McEachran fired home from 18 yards.

Oxlade-Chamberlain continued to threaten, his driven cross almost seeing Wealdstone defender Edward Oshodi put through his own net.

The visitors came back into the game midway through the half and found a lifeline as Abobaker Eisa fired past City keeper Jack Stevens from 12 yards.

City started the second half as strongly as the first.

McEachran tested North within seconds of the restart before full backs Oxlade-Chamberlain and Freddie Grant narrowly missed the target.

The Stones had a penalty shout dismissed by after Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick tumbled to the ground.

With 20 minutes remaining, Stones boss Bobby Wilkinson made a triple substitution.

It was City who scored next and looked to have sealed victory in the 87th minute as substitute Reece Fleet’s neat finish found the bottom corner.

But they were pegged back immediately by Eisa’s second.

Stout defending saw the hosts hold on.

City’s only other home win also came against a side managed by Wilkinson when his final game in charge of Hungerford Town ended in a 2-0 loss.
