CAPTAIN Lee Henderson admits he faces a battle to be fit for Oxford City’s historic Emirates FA Cup tie at Notts County tomorrow, writes JACK JOHNSON.

The centre back has not played since hobbling off with a dead calf during the victory over Chelmsford City in Vanarama National League South three weeks ago.

Henderson, who skippered City to their landmark victory over Colchester United last month, failed a late fitness test ahead of last Saturday’s Buildbase FA Trophy tie against Hereford.

And it is touch and go whether he will feature at Meadow Lane.

“I didn’t think the injury would be as bad as it has been,” said Henderson.

“I’ve been to the physio and I was hoping I would get on to the pitch last Saturday.

“It’s a race against time.”

With the tie live on BT Sport, Henderson admits there is a real incentive to prove his fitness in time to face the Sky Bet League Two high-fliers.

He said: “It would be a very proud moment to lead the team out.

“We’ve had a good run, and with my family watching it will be even more special.

“I want to be on the pitch, but I think the lads will still do it and I don’t see why we can’t produce another upset.”
