Oxford City boss Mike Ford says his side will do everything in their power to prevent tomorrow’s visitors Brackley Town winning the Premier Division title at Court Place Farm.
Ford’s old club Brackley need a point to seal the crown, though City can catch them if they win their final four games and the leaders lose their last two games.
“I remember the Redbridge game when we lost in extra time in the FA Cup,” said Ford.
“Their players had a party on the pitch and then in the dressing room opposite ours.
“It was a horrible feeling and I never want to experience that again.
“We don’t want Brackley to have a party on our pitch and make it easy for them.
“They have had the finance to win this division weeks ago, but we want to make them wait a bit longer.”
City were hoping to close the gap by three points in last night’s re-arranged trip to Hemel Hempstead Town, but that was called off because of a waterlogged pitch.
It was postponed on April 9 for the same reason and wil now be played on Monday.
Ford added: “It puts us under a heavy workload, but there’s nothing we can do about it.
“It makes Saturday’s game against Brackley massive.”
City will be without Darren Pond (twisted knee) and Chris Willmott (ankle), while striker Steve Basham (thigh strain) faces a late fitness test.
Skipper Wayne Blossom is back after suspension.
Ford said his side can cope, adding: “We have got players who can come in and do a job. We had young ‘uns all over the pitch against Evesham, so they’ll have to stand up and be men.”
