FOOTBALL: Brock hits out after Thorne departure

Ardley United manager Kevin Brock has expressed his dismay after Nick Thorne left to sign for Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division rivals Witney Town. “I’m very disappointed,” admitted Brock. “ I only found out about Thorney this week. He (Thorne) originally told me that he was happy to stay and play for us.

“Then he rang me to say he was going to Witney. “We are going to miss the chances that Thorney created.” Brock added: “He (JustinMerritt) has put together a good side, but as you can appreciate, Justin is not my favourite person at the moment.”

l Former West Ham and England striker Tony Cottee is the guest speaker at Kidlington’s sportsman’s dinner at North Oxford golf club on Friday, November 23.

Tickets are priced at £45 or £42.50 for a table of 14.

Kevin Rose has replaced Rob King as chairman of Division 1 West side Carterton. The move was ratified at the AGM.
