FOOTBALL: Fuller: Let's hit the ground running

Banbury United manager Ady Fuller feels his side are better equipped this time around when they start their Premier Division campaign at home to St Albans City.

Last season, Banbury had a struggle to stay up, but Fuller says the addition of strikers Adeyinka Talabi, Adam Woodley and Tom Lorraine, can provide the goalpower to propel them to success.

Talabi was playing for Helsinki-based Finnish side Kapylan Pallo in the third tier, and is set to make his debut, provided they receive international clearance from the Finnish FA in time.

Woodley, who spent a spell on loan at Banbury last season, is back at Spencer Stadium after being released by Oxford City, while Lorraine scored 21 league goals for Daventry United in 2011-12.

“Aaron wasn’t wanted by City, so we are delighted to have him back,” said Fuller.

“He has been excellent in pre-season and now that is all over the lads can’t wait to get started.

“St Albans will be strong and finished last season really well. We have to make sure we are at the races to compete with them on Saturday.

“But if we play at a tempo and pace I know we are capabale of, we won’t be far off.”

Howard Forinton (calf injury) misses the game.
