FOOTBALL: Penalty king Clark

TWO late penalties from James Clark earned Didcot Town a 3-2 victory at Paulton Rovers in their FA Carlsberg Trophy preliminary round replay.

Didcot began the match with ten men after keeper Marcos Belloli was stuck in traffic , so Sam Elkins deputised between the sticks before Belloli joined the fray after 15 minutes.

James Billing put Paulton ahead before they had Marcus Mapstone sent-off.

Morgan Williams levelled, but Ben Lacey looked to have won it for Paulton.

Clark then kept his nerve with penalties on 82 minutes and in stoppage time. Didcot will now host Cinderford Town in the first qualifying round on Saturday, September 29.

Banbury United were hammered 8-1 at Stourbridge in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division.

Sam Rock (3), Drew Canavan, Sean Geddes, Luke Benbow, Stuart Hendry and a a Jack Ashton own goal made up Stourbridge’s tally.

Banbury’s Igor Coronado scored a 25-yard free-kick to make it 5-1 on 75 minutes.
