Dorchester put league form to the back of the minds to edge Westminster 6-5 on penalties and avoid an exit in the first round of the North Berks Charity Shield, writes Phil Annets.

Josh Bourton and Kieron Hughes strikes for North Berks League Division 2 side Westminster were cancelled out by Jack Rowe and Alex Kerry.

The Division 1 club, yet to gain a point in the league, secured their passage in the shoot-out.

Ben Hummell netted for East Hendred, but could not stop them losing 3-1 to Division 2 leaders Burghclere.

In the North Berks League Cup, Ollie Bailey (2) and Jason O’Hanlon helped Division 4 pacesetters Stanford in the Vale Res beat Watlington Town 3-0.

Crowmarsh Gifford recorded a 2-0 victory over Long Wittenham Athletic, thanks to goals from Jefferson Harriott and Tim Holton.

In Division 2, Jamie Tuck hit a brace as Stanford in the Vale returned to the top with a 4-1 win over Watlington Town.

Jamie McGahey and Sam Roberts also scored, while Bertie Proctor replied.

Rhys Griffiths struck twice and Lewis Collacott also netted as Sutton Courtenay won 3-1 at Marcham, who had Jamie Saulter on the scoresheet.

Liam Eltham hit a hat-trick to help East Hendred Res to a 5-0 victory at Kennington Athletic in Division 4. Neil Cheshire and Jordan Pacey added the other two goals.
