KIDLINGTON boss Martin Wilkinson has targeted promotion in their first season in the Southern League after agreeing a new deal.

Wilkinson, who led the Greens to the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division title and to the FA Vase quarter-finals, has signed a contract for the forthcoming campaign.

Kidlington have been placed in the Central Division of the Southern League, thus missing Oxfordshire derby clashes with Didcot Town, North Leigh and Wantage Town.

Wilkinson said: “In forthcoming weeks, we will agree our pre-season schedule and we plan to give winning the Central Division our best shot.

“Those who know me best will know that I am not one for looking back, but I am very proud of what everyone at the club achieved last year.

“We set out to win the Hellenic Premier League and gain promotion to the Southern League and we managed to do that with excellence.

“On top of that, our FA Cup and FA Vase exploits provided some very memorable occasions that will live in the memories of many for a very long time.

“Next season will bring an element of the unknown, but that’s the beauty of promotion and I can’t wait to get started to be honest.”

“Times are very exciting here at Kidlington.

“I am certainly looking forward to playing at the better quality venues with better facilities and most important better pitches.

“I expect us to have to step up our performance levels if we are to be competitive but I am confident we can do very well at the next level.

“Most of last season’s players have performed at levels above the Hellenic Premier League, so provided we are able to keep the majority plus add a couple more of equal quality, then I am confident we will do well.”
