KIDLINGTON manager Julian McCalmon believes his side have shown what they’re capable of after beating Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 Central leaders Royston Town on Wednesday night.

The Greens came from a goal down to end Royston’s 13-match winning streak and inflict just a third defeat on them this season, thanks to a Spyros Mantia own goal and a strike from Tommy Castle.

Kidlington host Potters Bar Town tomorrow and McCalmon expects a repeat display.

“They’ve set the standard now,” he said.

“That’s the bar that they have to aspire to every week.

“If we show the same passion and desire in every game then we won’t come up short often.”

The Greens welcome back striker Jack Dunmall from a shoulder injury, but are without Mark Janes with a foot problem and Henry Owen with cracked ribs.

Kristian Thomas (knee) has been sidelined for the remainder of the season, while Chris Weedon is also out with a knee injury.

Banbury United return to Premier Division action away to Kings Langley after exiting the League Cup with a 3-2 defeat at home to Aylesbury United.

Leading 2-0 thanks to Mark Bell and Luke Carnell goals, the Puritans conceded three times in the final 15 minutes to lose the third-round tie.

But manager Mike Ford is hopeful his side can shrug off that disappointment tomorrow.

“It won’t have any bearing on this weekend,” he said.

“We’ve got more important matches ahead of us.

“Our first target for this season was to reach 50 points and we can do that if we win this weekend.”

Ricky Johnson remains Banbury’s only absentee with a knee injury.

Wantage Town have signed winger Sam Mason from Slimbridge ahead of the visit of Salisbury in Division 1 South & West.

“He’ll be a really good signing for us,” said manager Ben Sadler.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how he gets on against Salisbury.

“It’s a big game for us and a chance to test ourselves against a really big club who are used to playing at a higher standard.

“We’ve got nothing to lose, so we just need to give it a go.”

Jake Johns has departed for Uhlsport Hellenic League side Shrivenham, while Harvey Scholes joins Adam Doyle and Tai Hulbert-Thomas on the treatment table.

Didcot Town hope to welcome back midfielder Ryan Barney from a hamstring injury in time for their trip to Wimborne Town.

The Railwaymen are unbeaten in their last four matches, but with three draws during that spell, player-manager Andy Ballard hopes to see an improvement in key areas.

“We’ve been in good form since the Christmas period and obviously we want to keep that going,” he said.

“But in the last two games especially we’ve conceded some silly goals down purely to a lack of discipline at set pieces.

“Hopefully that’s something we can put right this weekend.”

Defender Jack Longford (knee) remains out, while winger Jordan Graham has returned to parent club Oxford United.

North Leigh are without the suspended Matt Sysum for their home clash with Yate Town after the centre back was dismissed during last week’s 2-1 victory at Salisbury.

The Millers were made to work hard for their narrow 1-0 win over struggling Bridgwater Town on Tuesday and manager John Brough expects similar this weekend.

He said: “The sides down at the bottom will scrap for everything and make life difficult for you.”
