PLAY-OFF chasers Banbury United bid to make it six wins in a row when they travel to Stratford Town tomorrow in the Evo-Stik Southern League.

The Puritans are one of the Premier Division’s form sides and only out of the top six on goal difference.

But boss Mike Ford is not getting carried away.

“We’re in good form, but that’s all it is,” he said.

“Chippenham at the top are unbeaten in 20-odd, so that’s the type of form that I call excellent.”

Stratford are 17th, but Ford knows a tough afternoon is in prospect.

He said: “We beat them earlier in the season with the last kick of the game, and they had a really good win last week, so they will be keen to turn us over with their renewed confidence.

“We just need to remain calm, play our stuff, work hard, and see where this run can take us.”

Banbury are at full strength for the trip, and Ford is further boosted by the return of Jack Self.

“I have some decisions to make,” Ford said.

“I may have to leave players out on Saturday, but that’s a decision I have to make. Jack’s a really good player, so it’s great to have him back in contention.”

In Division 1 South & West, North Leigh can leapfrog Bideford into eighth place with victory in Devon.

Boss John Brough admits he already has one eye on next season, and wants his side to finish as strongly as possible.

He said: “I’ve set that challenge.

“The results have gone away from us and the gap to the play-offs is quite sizeable now, so we just need to try and finish as high as we can.”

Brough says the successful cup runs of this season have ultimately taken their toll on his small squad.

“With the size of our squad, it was always going to be difficult,” he said.

“That said, we wouldn’t swap the cup runs for anything as that brought interest and money to club.”

Morgan Williams and Roger James both miss tomorrow’s trip due to work commitments, but the Millers are boosted by the return of skipper Stuart Hole from injury.

Didcot Town host Yate Town, where fans can pay what they want to watch the game.

The club will also be collecting donations on behalf of children’s charity Barnardo’s.

Josh Baines is set for his second debut after rejoining Didcot from Aylesbury, but Louis Joyce is unavailable, while Jack Longford and Ryan Barney are injured.

Meanwhile, the Railwaymen await the Southern League’s decision on whether their home fixture against Hereford should be replayed.

The Football Association has informed the clubs no action will be taken after the pitch invasion on March 4.

Kidlington boss Julian McCalmon has paid tribute to defender Chris Weedon, who has retired due to a long-term knee injury.

Weedon has been at Yarnton Road for ten years, but has hung up his boots on medical advice.

McCalmon said: “Chris was a top servant at Kidlington, and a real gentleman.

“His tigerish tackling and tenacity on the field will be sadly missed.”

Kidlington host Northwood in Division 1 Central.

Sam Warrell is suspended, while Anaclet Odhiambo misses the match as he is at a wedding.

Henry Owen, Kristen Thomas and Ben Weedon are still injured.

Wantage Town host AFC Totton at Alfredian Park.
