Carl Pettefer is likely to have a late fitness check on his calf injury to see whether he is fit to face Crawley Town today.

Chris Hargreaves is poised to return in place of the injured Eddie Hutchinson.

And Yemi Odubade, who made a big impact when he came on for the second half against Woking, will probably start up front alongside leading scorer Rob Duffy.

United, like every other team, are now into the second half of the season, on the home straight if you like.

And that means they will now be facing sides they have already met.

"We were new to the Conference and so didn't really know what to expect," manager Jim Smith said. "We do know what to expect now.

"But it's such an inconsistent league, that you don't know whether the team that turns up to face you is the same as the one you've already played.

"One day they turn up and you think 'they're a handful', and the next they're not.

"The teams we play are very inconsistent and that's probably why we are where we are because we've been the most consistent, along with Dagenham, and have just edged in front."

United are looking to break their three-game barren run in front of goal.

Smith said: "If we'd been scoring goals of late, we'd still be unbeaten. The two we've lost in the league have been 1-0 and 1-0.

"We need everybody to put their two-pennyworth in to score goals.

"The midfield, the front men, and the full backs, all had opportunities to score, or do better.

"It's disappointing that we didn't, and it was bad finish ing in some cases, but it was unfortunate too.

"Their keeper came backfrom Sheffield Wednesday and made two or three really good saves.

"And it wasn't just the saves he made, it was also his presence for them, defensively.

"If they'd had the young kid in, it might have been a different story."

Michael Bastock returns for Crawley after serving a one-match ban.

United will be keeping half an eye on closest challengers Dagenham & Redbridge, who are at home to Halifax.
