Ian Concannon's second-half strike gave Didcot Town a 3-2 victory against Newport IoW at the Loop Meadow Stadium on Satur- day.

The home side went in front in the Division 1 South & West clash with a brilliant solo goal from Stuart Beavon after 15 minutes.

Paul Powell should have doubled the lead, before Jack King was unlucky to see his shot flash inches wide in the 25th minute.

Newport were level three minutes later when a hopeful ball over the top released Sam Hart and he showed great composure to slot past Chris Webb.

An incredible triple save from Newport keeper Ritchie Newbury kept Didcot at bay in the 34th minute.

Beavon's low cross was turned against a post by Andy Parrott, but then King, Powell and Andy Parrott could scarcely believe it as Newbury saved their shots from going over the line.

There was nothing Newbury could do, however, when Parrott thumped a brilliant shot into the top corner following more smart work from Beavon.

Newport showed creditable determination to get back into the game and just before the break Dean Cole lifted the ball over the out-rushing Webb to make it 2-2.

Didcot had the benefit of the strong gale at their backs after the break and it was mostly one-way traffic.

Only more heroics from keeper Newbury kept out shots from Jamie Brooks, Beavon and another stunning block from substitute Concannon, but eventually the pressure paid off.

With just 15 minutes remaining, Concannon grabbed what turned out to be the winner with a low shot.
