OXFORD United Women slipped to a seventh successive away defeat in FA Women’s Super League 2 as they were beaten 3-0 by title-chasing Everton.

Claudia Walker opened the scoring for the home side in the 28th minute, tapping in unmarked at the back post from Chloe Kelly’s cross.

United responded well and even had the ball in the back of the net early in the second half when Lauren Allison’s free-kick was turned in by an Everton defender – only for it to be ruled out for offside.

Top scorer Ini Umotong also went close for the U’s with an ambitious overhead kick, which was hacked off the line after beating the keeper.

But with just over an hour played the hosts increased their stranglehold on the match.

Rosella Ayane picked out Michelle Hinnigan in space at the back post, and she expertly volleyed back across the face of goal, leaving goalkeeper Demi Lambourne with no chance.

And just moments later the game was put beyond the visitors as Walker notched her second, turning into space in the area before curling a shot into the top corner.
