ROB Tutton called on his Oxford City side to make the most of their opportunity at home to Peterborough United tomorrow evening (7) in the second round of the FA Youth Cup.

City, Oxfordshire’s last representatives in the competition, are one of just four sides left from the preliminary round.

Having come through five previous rounds to reach this point, the City boss believes he is in charge of a special group of players.

Tutton said: “It’s a very strong squad – possibly the strongest we’ve ever had at the club.

“There are going to be a lot of scouts from Premier League and Championship clubs coming to watch them and it’s a great opportunity for them to impress.

“The lads are really looking forward to it and if they play to their ability and without any fear there’s no reason they can’t get a result.”

If City can get past the Posh, another Football League scalp awaits them, with a trip to either Plymouth Argyle or Gillingham, who play this evening, in the third round.

City reached that stage two years ago, disposing of Luton Town along the way, and Tutton believes it sets a fine example to his current crop.

“That was a great run and a couple of those lads are around the first team now,” he said.

“There’s no reason why these guys couldn’t do the same and go on to play a big role for the club in the future.”
