BERINSFIELD lifted the North Berks Charity Shield after a 5-3 victory over Saxton Rovers, writes RICHARD UNDERWOOD.

It completed a league and cup double after landing the Division 1 title last month.

Berinsfield went in front when a long ball found Max Palmer on the edge of the box and his strike went over keeper Jack Absolom into the net.

Saxton equalised on the half-hour through Frank Haines.

Five minutes before the break, Saxton went in front when Daniel Parry found space and fired into the top corner.

But on the stroke of half-time, the scores were level, Charlie Lee curling a fine effort past Absolom from 20 yards.

In the second half, Brian Rawlings put Berinsfield in front when he reacted quickest to slot in from close range.

Their lead was extended with 15 minutes left when a pinpoint cross into the box from Mark Ingram found the unmarked Palmer, who headed home from close range.

Daniel Cox reduced the arrears to 4-3 from ten yards, and nearly levelled when his effort struck a post.

Berinsfield wrapped up victory late on when Murphy was brought down in the box and Ingram fired home from the spot.

Kintbury Rangers Res, from Division 1, lifted the Nairne Paul Cup with a 2-1 win over Division 4 outfit Lambourn Sports Res.
