A Michael Bartley goal - his fifth in four games - proved decisive as Didcot Town continued their unbeaten run in Division 1 South & West at the Loop Meadow Stadium.
The winner arrived a minute before half-time when Bartley skilfully beat his marker before sliding the ball home.
Didcot's Richard Witt almost made it 2-0 with a stunning left-foot shot that smacked against the crossbar in the second half.
A spell of Taunton pressure gave the home side some anxious moments towards the close, but they held on for three points to cement third place in the table.
