ELLA Franklin-Fraiture cut a frustrated figure after Oxford United let a two-goal lead slip to lose 3-2 in their bottom-of-the-table clash at Watford.

It leaves Les Taylor’s side ninth in FA Women’s Super League 2, only staying above the Hornets on goal difference.

Goals from Franklin-Fraiture and Ini Umotong gave United a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes at Berkhamsted.

Anne Laure-Davy, reduced the deficit, before Giulia Ferrandi and Davy handed the hosts victory.

Franklin-Fraiture could not hide her disappointment.

She said: “In the first half we were so dominant.

“For 44 minutes we were completely on top and winning everything, but then obviously they got that goal just before half-time.

“We were winning everything, we just took our foot off the gas and were maybe a bit complacent.

“At 2-1 they got the momentum and they came out wanting to get another goal – we came out saying we weren’t going to let them get another so we were so disappointed to concede that second goal.

“It’s really frustrating because I feel like we sort of gifted them the win, their second goal was decent but two of them were set pieces.

“They haven’t outplayed us, we were the better team apart from maybe a 20-minute period after half time.”

United could not have got off to a better start, Franklin-Fraiture lobbing the ball over Lucy Gillett in the Watford goal on 14 minutes.

And it was 2-0 six minutes later when Umotong fired home her tenth goal in 12 games.

Oxford created further chances, but the hosts halved the deficit just before the interval as Laure-Davy tucked home.

The goal buoyed the bottom-placed side and they levelled shortly after the break.

Ferrandi took advantage of a mix-up in the United defence before comfortably slotting home.

The turnaround was complete on 56 minutes as Laure-Davy headed home Ellie Mason’s corner.

Oxford had opportunities to level, but Watford held on.
