EDDIE Pepperell made improvements during his second round but it was not enough to survive the cut at the Nordea Masters.

A five-over-par 77 on Thursday left the Abingdon golfer needing a round in the mid-60s to stay in Sweden for the weekend.

He briefly looked set to stage a comeback when, having started at the tenth hole, he recovered from an early dropped shot to birdie the 12th, 13th and 16th.

But three bogeys around the turn effectively ended Pepperell’s hopes of making the cut, eventually signing for a one-under-par 71 to finish on four-over for the tournament, well down the field.
