EDDIE Pepperell suffered late drama – but did just enough to make the cut at the French Open.
The 25-year-old from Abingdon, who shot a level-par opening round on Thursday, recovered from a double bogey at the first with birdies on the third, sixth and eighth holes.
Despite a bogey at the 13th, making the cut looked a formality for Pepperell, but a double bogey on the 17th was followed by another dropped shot at Le Golf National’s closing hole.
A three-over-par 74 sent him tumbling down the standings, but after a nervous wait the Frilford Heath player narrowly avoided a fourth successive missed cut.
