JUST when it looked as though Eddie Pepperell was about to make only his second cut of the season on golf’s European Tour, disaster struck in the Portugal Open today.
With five holes to play, the Abingdon golfer was four under par for both his second round and the tournament – comfortably inside the likely cut-line of two-under-par.
But the 26-year-old dropped three shots in the next four holes to finish with a one-under-par round of 72 and a total of 145.
In the weather-delayed tournament, Pepperell had completed a level-par first round 73 in the morning.
