GREGOR McKenzie has hit terrific form to claim two titles in quick succession.
The teenager from Kirtlington followed up victory at Frilford Heath’s Junior Gold Medal with the under 16 crown at the South England Boys Open.
McKenzie trailed by four shots at the halfway stage at Frilford, but dug in well in difficult conditions during the second round.
His score of 141 earned a play-off with Harrison Arnold (Castle Royle), as his accuracy off the tee was key.
McKenzie’s consistency impressed at Sherborne in Dorset for the second crown.
Rounds of 71, 72, 70 and 71 saw him win by one stroke.
Olly Huggins, a fellow pupil at the Andy Taylor Golf Academy, is also making his mark after reaching the last-16 of the English Men’s Amateur Championship.
Having finished three-under in the strokeplay stage, he came from behind to knock out Matthew Lamb (Hexham Park) 3 & 1.
But his run ended at the 19th hole of the last-16 stage, against Jay Beisser (Rayleigh Club).
