EDDIE Pepperell shot a second successive round of 71 to make the halfway cut in the inaugural NBO Oman Open.

In contrast to his first round, the Abingdon golfer produced a much steadier display on day two.

He had two birdies and two bogeys on the front nine, dropping a shot at the ninth, which had cost him a double-bogey on the first day.

Pepperell covered the back nine in one under par, his one birdie coming at the 16th hole.

His total of 142 put him nine shots behind the leader, France's Matthieu Pavon, who added a 65 to his first-round of 68 for a score of 133.
