EDDIE Pepperell secured his spot in this week’s Open Championship after a superb second place in the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open.
The Oxfordshire golfer produced a fantastic six-under-par round to finish on 16 under for the tournament at Gullane GC in East Lothian.
That saw him take second, four shots behind Brandon Stone, and claim one of the three remaining places for The Open in Carnoustie, which starts on Thursday.
Pepperell birdied the first two holes and picked up further shots on the fifth, eighth and ninth.
A further birdie at the tenth took him into the lead, and he continued his great run with another at the 14th.
Any chance of landing the title disappeared with a bogey at the 17th.
But he parred the last to finish on 16 under and claim second place.
