GOLF: Pepperell fails to make impact

Eddie Pepperell was not totally happy with his game despite finishing tied sixth in the EuroPro Final Qualifying School at Frilford Heath.
Pepperell, who was playing on the Red and Blue courses at his home club, had rounds of 69, 71, 69 for a three-under-par total of 209.
That put him nine shots behind the winner, Tyrrell Hatton, from Harleyford. Jason Timms, from The Wychwood, tied for 20th with a total of 213.
“I had one or two technical issues with my game,” said Pepperell. “As it’s on a course I know, I expected to do well.”
He was only playing because it was at Frilford and it gave him a chance to earn some money – just under £1,000 – while not incurring travelling expenses.
As he has a regular place on the Challenge Tour, Pepperell is able to play in every EuroPro Tour event.
Next week, he will playing in the MotoCaddy Masters at Wensum Course, Norfolk, while he will be turning out in the BGC British Masters at Lingfield the following week.
He will open his Challenge Tour campaign in Brittany next month.
“I’m expecting to do better on the Challenge Tour this year,” said Pepperell. “Last year it was my first season on tour, and it was a case of getting to know the courses and the lifestyle.
“I’ve not set myself any goals – I just try and shoot in the sixties every round.”
